Just across from Woolworths and the Discount Fruit Barn (DFB) at Westfield Helensvale, there is a new Juice bar on the block. Created by the owners of the DFB, Krush has a wide range of fresh fruit + vegies at their fingertips ready to create a healthy-tastebud-satisfying bonanza!

We worked with the interior designer to create the look and feel of this break out store, along with all the branding and signage. Such a fun project to be involved in! - Kate Moloney

The Discount Fruit Barn is smashing the fruit and veg sales with it's new 'look' and have a handful of new shops open on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Late last year we created branding, signage, graphics and the interior styling/art direction for the Westfield Carindale store. At the same time they were rolling out that same concept for the Westfield Helensvale shop. After opening its doors around Christmas time, Rach and I only just got up there last week to perve on the fit out. We were excited by what we saw!  - Kate Moloney

Late last year we were contacted by a lovely Chinese lady asking if they could feature us in their international BRAND magazine. We initially thought it was spam but answered the sheet of questions, supplied photos and replied with various emails back and forth, exchanging smiley faced emoticons...

Turns out it wasn't a scam and here we are! Shells seaside cafe branding gets a start.

If you're keen to purchase a copy (there are loads of other lovely jobs in there), I'm not sure if it is sold here in Australia but sure you could find out on their website http://www.brandmagazine.com.hk/

Hello 2013!

06 February 2013

We are visual people so here is a snap shot of the year and a glimpse at some of the rad projects we were lucky enough to be involved in. Over the coming months we will showcase some of our faves. Can you believe it is February 2013 already!!? January 2012 was only a moment ago! Our first year in business whizzed past. Totes.

Reflecting back on 2012 jam packed with gold medal moments and exciting developments, it's hard to imagine how 2013 will measure up. Staying true to Harmonica's goal of creating work we are proud of, for people with similar values to our own, a few projects came through the studio that excited us into a flurry of dance (cue cheesy music and imagine the first 5 minutes of The Ellen Show).

A couple include.. Learning Blocks Educational Development Centre's Start-up Branding, Burleigh Brewing's Uniform & Merchandise design, Milford Sound Lodge's Rebrand, Mental Notes Consulting's Training Diary, Krush Juice Bar's Start-up Branding, AG79 Branding & Apparel design, i-Evolutionary Online Magazine's Branding, Jack Lee Australia's Marketing Collateral & Website, Athletes websites for Jessica Fox, Tate Smith, Hannah Davis, Alana Nicholls, Lyndsie Fogarty & The Aussie K4. As well as continuing work that still excites us, for Dolphin Surf Craft, Safe & Healthy People, Minchin Moore Private Wealth, Wave Warriors, Australian Canoeing, The International Canoe Federation, and Atlantis Resources. (..inhale!)

It wasn't all sunshine and lollipops, we learned a lot about businessy things too. We don't often talk about ourselves as business women (opting to showcase amazing cats and mythical creatures instead) and avoid using words like 'synergise', 'facilitate', 'impliment' or 'moving forward', so thought you might like to know what we are all about. We help build and improve brands. We like to keep things simple and work with clients that value our talents and ideas.

Our goals are simple
1]
Design work we are proud of
2] Design work that’s worthy to enter awards
3]
Design creative things for ourselves, with a view to selling them as ready-made items
4]
 Contribute to charities where possible
5]
Take a responsible stand on environmentally friendly print/ workplace routines
6] Stay up-to-date with latest technologies
7] Travel for research
8]
Maintain a healthy and happy balance of life vs work.

Keeping all this in mind, and the next calendar festivities already looming, 2013 is already full of promise with a few expecting delights to be revealed soon!

I saw this image a few months ago and saved it in my 'inspirational sh*t' folder. Today it gets the call up to help illustrate my point. It seems that fashion houses are getting sporty! Chanel have jumped into the surfing scene and now Louis Vuitton have stepped it up with hipster bike trend creating its own deluxe version of bike polo and mallet. Surfing, fixies... I see a trend emerging here, nonetheless pretty cool. Thanks @asportinglife.co for the happy surprise - Kate

We haven't posted any work on our blog for a while but that doesn't mean we haven't been doing any.

Thanks to our good friend Ali Boynton from Escape Plan Designs, we have been enjoying working with Westfield. Pretty fun stuff to get back in the interiors graphics package world!

After doing some other designs for Helensvale (still in progress), we got the call up to do some work for the Carindale Westfield Shopping Centre. Working with Joselyn from Parker Design and Construction, we helped out with developing some fruit crate inspired graphics and signage.
I think they turned out alright - Kate :)

Alana starts racing in the London Olympics on Tuesday 7 August. Look out for her racing in both the K1 500m, and the K1 200m for Australia. We've had the pleasure of working with Alana to create a website for her profile as an athlete. Can't wait to watch her and the rest of the team performing at their best in the Canoe Sprint events at Eton Dorney. Check out Alana's site at alananicholls.com.au

Strandhill in County Sligo on the west coast of Ireland is a great little part of the world.
Back in 2009 I was lucky enough to live there for about 12 months, experiencing the best it has to offer.

I rocked up there with just my surfboard and road bicycle, off the back of a recommendation from a Kiwi
friend at Billabong. Talk about striking it lucky! When I got picked up from the train station and headed
straight to check the surf, I knew I was in for a great 12months.

A few weeks ago, Strandhill friends Dave Mottershead and Allan Mulrooney contacted me with the idea
of creating a brand for Strandhill. I was flattered to be able to help out.

If you ever get the chance to travel to Ireland, I can't recommend Strandhill enough. I am just saving
my pennies to get back over there now! Check out what all the fuss is about www.gostrandhill.com

So it happened! My mate Kate went and ordered herself a longboard from Chris Garrett! Look at the pretty design she did - all pastelly and washy and nice! So impressed! 3 weeks to wait for it to be glassed though.. hmpf. The mermaids are already out the front at Nobby's waiting for her to get out there with them. Pretty sure Fleet Foxes are going to play Mykonos every time she heads out as well [watch this - it will make you happy]. Chris heads back to Bali today (where he is based), so she was lucky to get in for a new board while he was home. Happy happy happy! R xx

There's only one month to go until the London Olympic Games. I'm heading to the Games to support our Aussies, and watch my husband Tate, who's racing in the K4 1000m Canoe Sprint event on 7 & 9 August. I can't wait to get over there and see him. He's been in Europe since April, and will stay there until he races. To make it easier for him to communicate what he's been up to with training and racing to everyone (and also upload any eye candy of the boys racing), we've created an athlete website for him. Check out tsmith.com.au. R xx
